Retirement, Pure Bliss...

Just like when we say, 'I've come across this, that, them and those in life', there's a frequently happening phenomenon which we happen to come across in every household - RETIREMENT!!! Oooh, Isn't the word alarming! No, not to me. There are two little people in my life, who are retired and 'not' - I think... One's the DAD (retired last month) and other's the GRANDDAD (retired for some years now).
In chronological order - My granddad, Thathiyah, as only this word sounds right to describe him. 'Grandad' - the term is a tad alien to me. I remember sending him a card on his retirement that had a bunch of retired rats doing weird hobbying stuff like smoking pot, pulling another rat's hair, hanging upside down from the ceiling and so on...Crazy me! I am dead sure he's lost it cos the last time i asked, he faked looking for it and said its been misplaced. Good for him.
Rite...now grazing over the actual topic that ought to speak about his retirement, he seems too satisfied with the routine he's set up. Try whatever, you cannot pull him out of it, be it his daughter's birthday, her wedding anniversary, his granddaughter visiting near his place which happens once in every bluemoon or a huge get together inclusive of most of his grandsons and daughters and children - he certainly doesnt dig into it...Man, isn't he busy! Yeah, this is what it is, he's got his own selfmade group of old friends who expect him to turn up everyday so that they've got someone who actually they can turn to and open their hearts out. The conversations vary from funnier family stuff as to, 'has the toddler in your place uttered his first word', to the really leaden, say, international politics!
I just learnt a few days back from my grandma that he's been awarded every year by the library in his place, (a little place called Devakotai where 'most we-all the great crooks' hail from :) ), a laurel that applauds him to be the person who reads the maximum number of books per year. This saddened me a lot cos i dint know it all these days. I know he reads a lot but never knew, to this extent. People say that I am a brat very similar to the elderly brat i am talking about all along, but guess what, he does his own chores and yeah, he is awesome in his own teeny tiny way (and so am i). Oki, I think I am starting to soak my hand towel as most serials in Tamil channels do today (They start all funny, hale and hearty and move on to drench people, either the tearful way or the sweaty way - However, better not to switch on the Idiot Box in the evenings or you certainly aren't relaxing).
Moving on to the lighter and bubblier 'My DAD'!
'Whew' - People are tired getting to keep along with him these days. He's packed as I can see everyday with activities however trivial, he does them all. He always has, but guess he din't have the time then, with his work interrupting him and all...Call him at any time and you can find him driving to some destination inside Thanjavur, wherein it'll take only a maximum of three-quarters of an hour to span through the whole of the town itself...Weird, huh! When chores subside, he's got a whole troup of kiths and kins(I seriously doubt the word's grammatically legal even) to keep him busy in every huge way possible.
Trust me, I was really really scared when i learnt a couple of months ago that he would be retiring soon cos I've known him from my birth and he is a person who's incapable of keeping still in one place for more than a minute and I am not exaggerating. But, as i am sketching it out, he seems to be coping beautifully.
Certainly, these people out there are jolting us, their children in early and late 20's into a realisation that questions us when we claim to be bored most of the time we keep at home! And now I think I ve bored you out enough...
Retired??? - Who me!!! Cos I've posted twice from morning??? No No...certainly not-I ve just got a sprained ankle and hip that's eating into my brain which as i said in my earlier post is hyperactive and hyperventilating... Adios now guys :)... Be safe.
