I can most certainly guess what would be running through your minds now - Goshh...What a disgrace! Letting down the 'Indispensable Mother Sentiment' just like that cos she's (that's me) capable of spelling out a few words in English and make it sound authentic...You maybe rite about that too. But, I think that the thought isn't as cruel as you evaluate.
Guys, what I am trying to point out here is that we Indians do not require a particular day to applaud our mothers cos if you guys try and sit back and realise, its mother's day almost everyday for us. However trivial the issue might be, dont almost 90% of Indians ring up to your mothers to update them on your everyday happenings. Dont most of you call her every nite b'fore sleep to assure her that you've without fail consumed all 3 meals of the day or more. Dont many of you make sure you ease her mind on your blooming well-being. Doesn't she have it on her fingertips as to when you've had your promotion, your hike, that you've resigned, you are depressed and that you are in love.
Mothers of India are her children's first and foremost friend. Why alienate the love to just one day, which a population entirely of a different culture, that tends to be farther away from their own parents and siblings both mentally and physically, utilise to make sure that the bloodline still lives out there somewhere and are of good health.
Do not be pissed off with me (specially my bro). Its just because I've got a new pen and just love or cant stop writing with it. Hoorah...Its Mother's Day tomorrow. Nothing wrong in making it extra special to her than everyday. Sure, go ahead and embarass her :)

ReplyDeleteEvery day IS mother's day, in a way... but why not an extra special day? I think it helps to think of it as a kind of an extra birthday or something... another day to be super grateful for all the mommies out there, without whom we'd all be snivelly little things, with snot dripping down our noses or something.
ReplyDeleteand for the record, my mum gets flowers every time I go home :)
